AZ - Day 8 (PD)

On the downward slope now! Just over half the trip has past and this is our last full day in Scottsdale before we hit the road for the second half.

Today we have done little in the a.m. Having worked out how to use the washing machine and dryer.

We have lunch at 1200 with Alex, a friend from way back of my aunt Yvonne. She has been exchanging emails with Claire on the run up to arriving and so we are meeting for lunch.

With news of the weather deteriorating at home I am glad we are here. The Seine is supposed to me running 5m above normal levels leading to the Louvre being evacuated or at least treasures moved out of the basements. Here it was already 93F and sunny as usual at 10am.

I set the TomTom for the Longhorn Steakhouse and we arrived a bit early.

Alex and Ross, her husband, arrived a few minutes after we were seated. We got on really well it was after three when we set off for a gelato place nearby.

The thermometer on the dashboard showed 113F as we followed Alex's Grand Cherokee.

We continued chatting and eventually after around 5pm and we drove back to the apartment via Fry's.

Tonight is our last night here and we have packing to do, plus dinner of pizza and the remaining slaw and potato salad and of course, more ice cream we can't take with us!

Tomorrow we'll head north east to Holbrook via Payson and Winslow.

I feel one of our videos coming on.... 😏
