AZ - Day 1D (PD)

Finally here. Landed about 2229 MST and after a walk around the shopping centre that seems to form most of the airport we found a security guard who told us where the shuttle bus to car rentals was... Four floors below us and another long walk. The National office was easy to find and we were there only customers. I prefer National as all taxes and insurances are included in the quote. The guy pointed to a row of cars. "Take any one of those". My eyes flicked to the three Challengers... In the end we put our cases in an Impala then Claire saw the Charger SXT. We changed. The Papago Inn was easy to find (crossed fingers TomTom worked) and we checked in about 1230... Day 2 started with us going to bed shattered after 24 hours awake.

AZ - And a third...

And next,  my attention to car hire.  The Fusion we had in Tampa was okay, but hardly sets the pulse going. The year before the Mustang was great but impractical.  So what this year? 2015 Chrysler 200 I went back on the National site and, with free cancellation,  I booked a Chrysler 200 or similar. Yessiree, another air conditioned box. I found that this year National were the best value as they include all the insurances in the rental price rather than suddenly add them all at the end.  I keep clearing cookies as I have this strange idea that the more you visit a rental site the higher the price. The 200 is little over £307 all in for the fortnight. It's not too bad but the reality always works out different. Today the rental for the same car is £328.... So I deleted the cache and went back to the site and it was £307.04 again. Maybe for Arizona we'll need something more off road capable? A Jeep or maybe a Dodge Ram 1500?

FL15 - Car Hire - 3

A few days and I have made another slight amendment.  This year the Mustang only proved to be a PITA as the boot (trunk) was only able to take a single large suitcase and the small hand luggage case, as long as you put it in by some sort of luggage contortionist way. On the way back to the airport and the day before, we had two cases and one had to go onto the back seat!  This wouldn't be a problem if we had a fixed apartment or hotel, as we have some days "on the road" maybe the Mustang isn't going to be the right vehicle. Head has to overrule the heart!   So it was back the travel sites to see that would be an alternative. Or take one case maybe? This year we had booked a Dodge Charger and then didn't need too much persuasion to trade up to the Mustang.  The Chargers we saw there looked pretty good and the Highway Patrol was using them too, although I doubt they had the box standard rental car model. So what to do? The two companies that came out ...
