AZ - Day 7 (PD)

Time flies when you are enjoying your self. Today is Day 7 and we are almost at the halfway point in the trip.

Today we have done a little less than other days. Our usual plan when we are in Spain is to have a quiet day and then a busy day, after all, we are on vacation. But so far we have "done" something each day until today... Up a bit late and following our usual breakfast of bagels and peanut butter plus coffee we had a non-101 drive down to the the Desert Botanical Garden.  We went there on Friday and did about half of it. Today we did the other half.

Once again we got to see the hummingbirds but as usual they proved elusive to the camera.  By the time you have seen them, got the camera focused, they flit away. So sadly this is all I got!

At least you can see what it is!!

After being told by quite a few folks that it is cooler than usual,  the temperature topped 103°F and the guy at the gardens said that they were expecting 116°F before the weekend.

It does make you glad that someone invented air conditioning sometime in the past.  And the great idea to get it in cars!

I've not said much about the car. I wanted the Charger two years ago and was seduced into having the Mustang. The Mustang is a great car but once is enough.  Last year when we arrived in Tampa and by the time we got to the "choose one of these" (waves arm) time, there was little left and we ended up with a grubby seated Fusion.  This time it was different, There were a few decent looking cars and we almost had an Impala before Claire spotted the Charger. No looking back.

The SXT version has a manufacturers price of $29995 and I guess with sme haggling and waving a wad of dollars under their noses that there are deals to be done.  That work out at less that £21000.

In the UK, there is nothing of comparable power and comfort for that kind of money.  This car has the 3.6L V6 fitted and when we picked it up it was showing an average mpg on 19.1. With my "I don't want a ticket" driving style I have got that up to 28mpg for the smaller US gallon. With regular gas at $2.20 locally, this seems a small worry!
